This customer contacted Secom requesting a survey of their space because they were concerned they weren’t effectively monitoring their office for an intrusion. Our client had an existing access control system with a competitor that included monitoring of the perimeter doors only. Once we surveyed the existing system we noticed an obvious problem. The perimeter of the space was being monitored, but the IDS didn’t include any secondary measures to monitor the space and provide a layered security system.
Additionally, the client was paying a premium for monitoring and maintaining a leased system that they would never own. Secom submitted a proposal to replace the leased access control system with a layered approach that provided sensors to monitor the space along with a card access system and associated door contacts to manage and monitor entry to the office. As a result, our client was able to purchase a new access control system and IDS for the equivalent of ten months of our competitor’s charges.
